Kamala Harris’ husband doesn’t want her to run for president in 2028 – Report
Doug Emhoff, husband of former US Vice President Kamala Harris, has privately told people he would prefer she stay out of the 2028 presidential race, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, as cited by the New York Post.
People close to the former second gentleman, however, expect him to be supportive if she decides to run, according to the report.
Some donors have also told Harris directly that a 2028 White House run would be “a long shot.”
Harris lost the popular vote, the Electoral College and every swing state to President Donald Trump in 2024, despite raising $1.5 billion. She still leads the hypothetical Democratic field by double digits in virtually every recent 2028 poll.
She has said she is undecided. “I have not decided if I’m going to run again,” she said at a NAACP event in Michigan last month. “I do sincerely believe ’28 won’t matter if we don’t get through ’26.”
Harris has attended Democratic fundraisers ahead of the midterms. Her office and Emhoff did not immediately respond to the Post’s requests for comment.
