Third school attack in days sends shockwaves through Poland
Poland has recorded its third school attack in less than a week after a 21-year-old woman injured three people at an educational institution in Warsaw on Saturday.
According to CNN, citing the Associated Press, the attacker used a “dangerous object” to assault a 17-year-old girl, injuring two others aged 17 and 24.
Police said none of the injuries was life-threatening, adding that the suspect did not know her victims.
The incident followed Wednesday’s attack by a 19-year-old student who injured nine people and Thursday’s stabbing by a 15-year-old former pupil, which killed a school custodian and wounded two others.
Authorities subsequently detained 76 people and inspected nearly 50,000 schools nationwide.
At least 59 schools suspended classes on Friday amid fears of further violence.
“There will be no compromise here. The safety of the youth is the most important thing,” Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński said.
Authorities have promised additional security measures and crisis training as investigations into the attacks continue nationwide.
