Max Dowman makes Messi’s list of 10 young players destined for stardom
Arsenal teenager Max Dowman has been named by Lionel Messi among ten young players he believes are destined for superstardom, according to a report by SportBible.
The selection came in season three of the Adidas Messi +10 campaign, announced on Sunday, in which the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner picked prospects under 21. Dowman, 16, has made 15 appearances for the Gunners and impressed with his skilful, energetic approach in attack. He won a Premier League title last season after six league appearances, earning the Home Grown Debutant of the Season award.
Dowman is one of two Premier League players on the list, alongside Crystal Palace’s Zavier Gozo, 19, who made his United States debut this year. Chelsea’s Chloe Sarwie, 17, is the other English name.
The rest of the list includes Boca Juniors’ Tomas Aranda, the only Argentine, and Tijuana’s Gilberto Mora, 17, who played four World Cup games for Mexico. Eintracht Frankfurt’s Can Uzan, AZ Alkmaar’s Kees Smit, Como’s Jesus Rodriguez, Hamburg’s Lotta Wrede and Lyon’s Giovanna Waksman complete the group.
