Katie Zacharia begins as White House press secretary, to face reporters Tuesday
President Donald Trump has said his new White House press secretary, Katie Zacharia, will hold her first press conference on Tuesday, The Hill reports.
In a Sunday evening Truth Social post, Trump said: “I am pleased to announce that Katie Zacharia will be beginning her term as Press Secretary tomorrow, Columbus Day, and will be doing an introductory News Conference on Tuesday at 9:30 A.M. from the Press Briefing Room in the White House. Katie has been with me, in spirit, from the very beginning, and will do a fantastic job!”
Zacharia, a conservative commentator and former Trump Media communications adviser, replaces Karoline Leavitt, who left the administration earlier this year after the birth of her second child and later joined Fox News as a commentator.
She previously served as a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson. She is the second press secretary of Trump’s second term and the sixth consecutive woman in the role.
Zacharia said: “The work ahead is to continue delivering strong results for our Country and communicating to the American people the major wins that this Administration is making every single day.”
