Former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja over allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.

According to P.M. News, Okorocha was arrested on Monday night after allegedly failing to honour previous police invitations linked to an ongoing investigation.

Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Aniete Iniedu, confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, October 13.

The former governor was reportedly questioned for about one hour before being released on bail and directed to return to Force Headquarters for further interrogation.

Police sources said Okorocha had initially been invited for questioning on September 2, but the appointment was moved to September 8 at the request of his lawyers.

He allegedly failed to honour the rescheduled invitation, prompting police action.

Authorities have not disclosed further details surrounding the allegations against the former governor.

Okorocha served as governor of Imo State from 2011 to 2019.
