Truck crushes NYSC member to death, injures several others in Ibadan

A serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has died after an articulated truck crashed into multiple vehicles around Agodi Gardens in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The accident, which occurred on Monday, October 12, also left several people injured.

According to Channels Television, eyewitnesses said the truck had earlier collided with several vehicles around Sango before proceeding towards Agodi Gardens.

One witness alleged that the driver was attempting to escape when the truck struck a motorcycle carrying the corps member.

“The truck driver had reportedly hit several vehicles around Sango before proceeding towards Agodi. The truck eventually hit the motorcycle, killing the corps member, while several other people sustained injuries,” the eyewitness said.

The crash caused traffic congestion, forcing motorists to seek alternative routes.

Federal Road Safety Corps officials confirmed that injured victims were taken to nearby hospitals.

Authorities have yet to disclose the deceased’s identity or confirm the driver’s arrest. Investigations are ongoing.
