Court dismisses Aisha Achimugu’s N10bn suit against EFCC
ABUJA – The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court has dismissed a N10 billion fundamental rights suit filed by businesswoman Aisha Achimugu against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Peoples Gazette reports.
Justice Musa Liman ruled on Monday that the anti-graft agency had the power to search her residence after receiving intelligence about her alleged criminal activities.
In the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/466/2026, Achimugu challenged the search and the seizure of her cars, jewellery and other items. She also sought N10 billion in damages over what she described as an “invasion of her privacy.”
The judge held that there was no basis to restrain the EFCC from carrying out its statutory duties, describing the suit as “frivolous and brought in bad faith.”
EFCC counsel Emenike Mgbemele said the ruling was in the interest of justice, adding that the suit was an attempt to waste the court’s time.
The decision comes months after the court granted the final forfeiture of property linked to her to the Federal Government.
