Tinubu cleaning up the mess you left in NigerianAirways, Keyamo fires back at Atiku
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has accused former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of abandoning Nigeria Airways workers, saying President Bola Tinubu is addressing the consequences of the airline’s liquidation.
According to Vangauard, Keyamo made the allegation on Wednesday while responding to Atiku’s criticism of Tinubu’s economic policies.
Atiku had declared, “Bola made life expensive,” promising to restore affordability if elected president.
Keyamo accused Atiku of hypocrisy, recalling the liquidation of Nigeria Airways in September 2004 under the Olusegun Obasanjo administration.
“In September, 2004, when you were Vice-President, your Government woke up one morning and liquidated Nigeria Airways, throwing thousands of Nigerian[s] out of jobs and into sorrow and pain.”
He alleged that affected workers were denied pensions and gratuities for decades.
Keyamo said Tinubu recently approved and released ₦36 billion to settle outstanding entitlements, adding that beneficiaries had begun receiving payments.
He further accused Atiku of selectively accepting responsibility for decisions made during the Obasanjo administration.
