Girl, 15, regains consciousness inside coffin during funeral

A 15-year-old girl in Guatemala reportedly regained consciousness inside her coffin during her funeral, leaving family members and mourners shocked.

According to PUNCH, the teenager, identified as Yuleidy Ixcotoyac, collapsed while her father, Abraham Ixcotoyac, was transporting her to a medical facility.

Her father, an evangelical pastor, reportedly presumed her dead after failing to detect a pulse or breathing.

The family subsequently arranged a funeral without obtaining medical confirmation of her death.

However, about eight hours later, her mother, Lesvia Ríos, noticed movement inside the coffin during the wake.

“I kept saying she was alive; she wasn’t dead,” her mother recalled.

“When I was crying on top of her casket, we opened the window and she was moving, she was waking up and suddenly she sat up.”

Shocked mourners reportedly celebrated as relatives helped the teenager out of the coffin.

Yuleidy, who experienced severe chest pain before collapsing, is reportedly recovering at home.

The cause of her collapse remains unclear.
