A Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced two convicted Boko Haram members to life imprisonment following their arrest by the Department of State Services (DSS).

According to The Nation, the convicts, Abba Mustapha and Bukar Ibrahim, both from Borno State, pleaded guilty to charges involving membership of the proscribed terrorist organisation, providing support and concealing information about its activities.

Presiding judge Justice Salim Ibrahim sentenced each defendant to life imprisonment on the first count and an additional 20 years on the second count.

The judgment was delivered on Thursday, October 15, during the Federal Government’s latest round of mass trials involving suspected terrorists.

Proceedings are taking place simultaneously across several courtrooms at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

At least 34 suspects were scheduled to appear before Justice Ibrahim, while another 25 were listed before Justice Peter Lifu.

Other judges participating in the exercise include Justices James Omotosho, Binta Nyako, Emeka Nwite, Obiora Egwuatu, Hauwa Yilwa and Joyce Abdulmalik.
