FBI captures six most-wanted fraudsters, seizes $17bn in global crackdown
The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has announced the capture of six most-wanted fraud suspects and the seizure of approximately $17 billion in a global crackdown on cybercrime.
According to The Punch, FBI Director Kash Patel disclosed the achievements Sunday through separate posts on X.
Patel said the six fugitives collectively spent over 4,000 days evading arrest, with their alleged crimes involving more than $2 billion.
“They were wrong,” he wrote, referring to suspects who believed fleeing abroad would shield them from prosecution.
Under Operation Blackout, authorities reportedly arrested hundreds of suspected scammers and rescued thousands of trafficked workers.
Patel added that over 10,000 Americans received fraud warnings, preventing an estimated $670 million in losses.
“We’re not just investigating these criminal enterprises.
“We’re dismantling their networks, disrupting their finances, rescuing victims, and holding those responsible accountable,” he said.
“To every criminal organization targeting Americans: Justice will find you,” Patel warned.
