Republican Rep open to deporting Melania…
GOP Congressman suggests he’s open to deporting Melania Trump if she lied on her immigration paperwork…calls for re-evaluating every naturalized citizen since 1990
Rep. Randy Fine (R-Fla.) said Monday that everyone naturalized since 1990 should be re-evaluated for fraud, with Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) first, Mediaite reports.
Fine spoke to NewsNation anchor Nichole Berlie about his threat to seek Omar’s expulsion from the House and push for her deportation if authorities find she lied on her citizenship application.
Berlie asked whether similar scrutiny should apply to other high-profile immigrants tied to the administration, such as First Lady Melania Trump and former DOGE head Elon Musk. Fine said he believed the kind of fraud being alleged against Omar was endemic in Minnesota, with many people getting citizenship without proper paperwork. “Ilhan needs to be the first,” he said, adding that she should not be the last.
Pressed on whether he would include Melania Trump and Musk, Fine said he applied the standard to anyone who was dishonest in immigration paperwork. He said he knew nothing about their circumstances and was not aware of any allegation against them. By contrast, he said, allegations about Omar’s citizenship have circulated for 10 years, including from the Somali community. He said anyone who lied to become a citizen should be denaturalized and deported.
Berlie noted that the First Lady came to the United States on an Einstein visa before moving on.
Omar has denied wrongdoing and has not been charged.
