Anthropic IPO filings reveal how tech may destroy world…
Artificial intelligence company Anthropic has warned that advanced AI systems could pose catastrophic or existential threats to humanity if developed without adequate safeguards.
According to the Daily Mail, the warning appeared in Anthropic’s initial public offering (IPO) prospectus filed on Monday, October 26, 2026, ahead of a potential $2 trillion valuation.
The company, led by CEO Dario Amodei, highlighted risks including cyberattacks, biological weapons, authoritarian surveillance, mass unemployment and the potential loss of human control over advanced AI systems.
“Sufficiently advanced AI systems could, if not developed, deployed, and operated with appropriate safeguards, oversight, and security measures, pose catastrophic or existential risks to humanity,” the filing warned.
Anthropic also cautioned that authoritarian governments could exploit AI to strengthen surveillance and suppress opposition.
Despite these concerns, the company emphasised AI’s potential to accelerate scientific discoveries, improve healthcare and stimulate economic growth.
Amodei maintained that responsible development, strong oversight and effective security measures would be essential to preventing potentially devastating consequences.
