INSTAGRAM Targets YOUTUBE In Major Play for Podcasters…
Instagram has begun testing a new feature allowing creators to upload horizontal videos lasting up to 90 minutes, marking a major expansion beyond its traditional short-form content.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the feature, called “Features,” launched on Monday, October 26, 2026, for selected creators in the United States.
The initiative targets podcasters, comedians and other content creators, allowing users to watch full-length videos directly from shorter Instagram Reels.
Tessa Lyons, Instagram’s vice president of product, explained that viewers could move seamlessly from podcast clips to complete episodes.
The company previously tested the feature in Brazil and plans to expand access to tens of thousands of American creators.
Videos will also appear in Instagram’s Explore recommendations and eventually extend to its television application.
The development positions Instagram to compete more directly with YouTube and Netflix for long-form entertainment audiences.
Instagram is also exploring creator monetisation opportunities and additional features supporting episodic content.
