AFCON: Sports minister mourns departed compatriots, commiserate with deceased families

The Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, has commiserated with the families of Nigerians who died while watching the semi-finals match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Wednesday describing it as devastating and saddening.

Sporting Tribune recall that and a former House of Representatives member, Cairo Ojougboh, Chief Osondu Nwoye, an Anambra State born businessman resident in Abidjan, Deputy Bursar of Kwara State University, Malete, Alhaji Ayuba Abdullahi and Samuel, a corps member serving in Adamawa State all slumped and died from heart-related issue as a result of the highly explosive encounter.

In a letter he personally signed which he titled “AFCON Semi-finals: We Mourn The Death Of Patriots Who Lost Their Lives”, and made available to Sporting Tribune, the minister said, “It is with profound sadness that I commiserate with families of Nigerians who died while watching the semi- finals match between the Super Eagles and Bafana Bafana of South Africa. I am devastated by the sad news of the sudden deaths of these avid lovers of football and supporters of the national team while rooting for their victory in that crunch encounter.
