Ekiti police hunt kidnappers, five victims regain freedom

The Ekiti State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the gunmen who kidnapped passengers on the Ayedun-Ilasa-Ayebode Road.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, said the hoodlums, on Monday, freed five victims due to the pressure mounted on them by operatives.

The gunmen had last Thursday in multiple operations along the road abducted the passengers and escaped with them into the bush.

They were said to have riddled the vehicle the victims were travelling in with bullets, injuring two passengers in the process.

Abutu said, “Efforts are still on to apprehend the kidnappers for prosecution to ensure the safety of residents. But all the kidnap victims, five in all, have regained their freedom.
