Connor Chapman, 22, was last night charged with the murder of Elle Edwards in Wallasey, Merseyside, on Christmas Eve as he appeared at Wirral Magistrates Court this morning.

Wearing a grey, prison issue tracksuit, Chapman says he is of no fixed address and gives his date of birth as March 21, 2000.

When asked if he understood these charges Chapman held his head high and silently nodded before he was taken away with his hands behind his back.

He arrived at court in a convoy inside a prison van accompanied by unmarked police cars.

He was also charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, relating to a converted Scorpion sub-machine gun, and possession of ammunition with intent to endanger life.

The 26-year-old beautician was shot at the Lighthouse Pub, Wallasey Village, Merseyside, shortly before midnight on December 24 when a gunman sprayed bullets into a crowded area.

It was 10 minutes before midnight that Elle, who had been with her friends and sister, was shot in the head.

Four other men aged between 22 and 33 were also wounded in the incident…
