Navy intercepts wooden boat with stolen 40,000 crude oil — Nigeria

Men of the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (FOB), Igbokoda, Ondo State, at the weekend, intercepted a wooden boat carrying 40,000 litres of crude oil in the state.

According to the commanding officer of the base, Navy Captain Aliyu Usman, the boat was intercepted at Obe-Nla community in the Ilaje Local Council Area of the state.

The FOB’s commanding officer, who revealed this after the operation, stated that the criminal activity was uncovered while acting on credible intelligence.

While disclosing that a Quick Response Team (QRT) stationed at Awoye was dispatched to the community upon the intel, Usman stated that “at about 0700 hours, the QRT team arrived at the Obe-Nla seaside and discovered the wooden boat, approximately 30 meters in length, beached near a recently deactivated illegal refining site…
