N'Golo Kante to return to Chelsea training next week after injury struggle

Thomas Tuchel hopes that N’Golo Kante will return to Chelsea training on Tuesday despite the midfielder being ruled out of the clash against Leeds United.

The Blues midfielder last played in Chelsea‘s Champions League fixture against Juventus at Stamford Bridge.

However, Kante suffered a twisted knee at that match and was expected to be out for a week but has since missed matches against Manchester United, Watford, West Ham and Zenit Saint Petersburg – in addition to the Premier League match this weekend against Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Tuchel did not hide how big a blow Kante’s absence is for his squad.

The German coach said: “We are always worried when we have to live and play without N’Golo because he is exceptional and unique player. You cannot find a second N’Golo so of course we are worried, but I am also worried if he is just missing some days.

“We hope that he comes back on Tuesday to team training.”

Midfield injuries were such that Reece James had to play in the centre of midfield against Zenit, but it appears that the return of Jorginho and Ruben Loftus-Cheek will see the Cobham…
