Thomas Tuchel wants to reunite with not one but TWO Chelsea stars at Bayern Munich following his appointment.

Tuchel has replaced Julian Nagelsmann as Bayern head coach, having been out of work since his sacking at Stamford Bridge in September 2022.

He has a few months left of the season as he hopes to claim a treble, with the German giants still in the thick of three competitions.

Nagelsmann left the club one point behind Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga and in the quarter-finals of the DFB-Pokal cup and the Champions League.

But looking ahead, Tuchel appears keen to reinforce his side during the summer transfer window and has identified two members of his old team.

According to Calciomercato, the 49-year-old is eyeing Mateo Kovacic and Edouard Mendy, who are both tipped to leave Chelsea at the end of the season.

Kovacic, 28, has been the subject of intense transfer speculation, with Manchester United and Liverpool thought to be interested in snapping up the midfielder.

The Croatian has played a big role at Chelsea since his move from Real Madrid in 2018, but has dropped down the pecking order, with his contract up next year.

As for Mendy, he was an ever-present in his first two seasons after joining the club from Rennes. But, just like Kovacic, he’s fallen out of favour, with Graham Potter opting for Kepa Arrizabalaga between the sticks.

Tuchel isn’t just looking at Chelsea players as he has his eye on one of their coaches. He’s confirmed his intentions to add Anthony Barry to his coaching staff.
