Chelsea suffer Reece James and Mason Mount injury blows ahead of Forest clash

NOTTINGHAM POST

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has confirmed the Blues will be without two key players for their Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest on May 13.

Defender Reece James sustained a hamstring injury during Chelsea’s Champions League defeat to Real Madrid, whilst midfielder Mason Mount has been struggling with an abdominal issue which required surgery.

It compounds a nightmare season for the Blues who are currently on their third manager of the season as the West London club sit 11th in the table. Forest have also struggled with Steve Cooper’s team winless in 11 matches and in danger of dropping back down to the Championship next season.

But they may have a glimmer of hope for the game in two and a half weeks’ time against Chelsea. Speaking ahead of the Blues’ match against Brentford, Lampard said: “Reece James unavailable. Probably for the season.
