Greenwood called a ‘genius’ as Sancho breaks record on woeful day for Man Utd

Things have gone from bad to worse for Manchester United this weekend, with two of their outcasts thriving away from Old Trafford. On an afternoon which saw Erik ten Hag’s side held to a 1-1 draw by relegation-battling Burnley, Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood were both on the scoresheet for their respective sides.

United’s solitary point leaves them sixth in the Premier League and six points behind Tottenham, who have two games in hand. The Red Devils struggled to break down the resilient Burnley backline and were somewhat fortunate not to have conceded sooner than the 87th minute.

Antony bagged his first goal of the season in the 79th minute when latching onto a loose pass and showing some much-needed composure to slot his effort past Arijanet Muric and into the bottom corner. The Clarets then hit back late on after Zeki Amdouni was brought down inside the penalty area and scored the resulting spot-kick after VAR intervened.

The shaky display piles further pressure onto Erik ten Hag and his side, and they certainly needed the spark that two of their loaned-out stars are providing elsewhere in Europe. Greenwood and Sancho were both heavily praised for their starring roles at Getafe and Borussia Dortmund respectively, with the duo both adding to their tallies for the campaign.
