Manchester United to pay Wan-Bissaka £5.6m to complete West Ham transfer

Manchester United will provide Aaron Wan-Bissaka with a seven-figure payout to facilitate his transfer to West Ham.

Wan-Bissaka, formerly of Crystal Palace, is set to move to West Ham in a £15m deal. His departure will free up space and funds for United to pursue new signings, as they have agreed terms with Bayern Munich for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

The right-back reportedly earns around £90,000 per week at Old Trafford, but West Ham is unable to match this salary. To address the difference, United will offer a £5.6m payoff to ensure Wan-Bissaka’s transfer goes through.

De Ligt and Mazraoui are expected to cost United more than £50m combined. They will reunite with Erik ten Hag, who previously managed them at Ajax.

United extended Wan-Bissaka’s contract by a year last January, allowing them to sell him this summer rather than losing him for free. With Diogo Dalot securing the right-back position, the club has decided to sanction Wan-Bissaka’s departure.

Wan-Bissaka will be West Ham’s eighth signing of the summer under new manager Julen Lopetegui. The most recent addition, Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice, joined as the seventh new player, following Luiz Guilherme, Wes Foderingham, Max Kilman, Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug, and Guido Rodriguez.

Todibo, who was also a target for Manchester United, expressed excitement about playing in the Premier League. “It is a dream come true to play in the Premier League, the best league in the world,” he said. “This is an amazing opportunity for me, at a club with huge ambition, who want to really make progress under the new head coach.”
