Despite several fans asking for help, Travis Scott kept singing
In order to understand what happened last night during Travis Scott’s Astroworld concert, first we need to understand who Travis Scott is. We are talking about one of the new rap artists who strike very similar notes to the old Limp Bizkit rager style of performing. Back in the ’90s, there were several concerts in which the famous band needed to dial things way down but they simply didn’t care.
The best example of this is during the Woodstock 1999 concert, an infamous weekend in music history that Limp Bizkit only made worst. Although Astroworld is far from the hell that broke loose in upstate New York back then, there is always that comparison from Travis Scott’s events.

It’s not only the accelerated type of music he plays, Travis Scott is also a cultural phenomenon who has a strong grip in the street fashion world withhis constant collaborations with the biggest fashion brands in the world. He doesn’t only make those world famous collabs with Jordan Brand but he also recently made a collaboration with Christian Dior in the high fashion world.
Add all that to a constant crave for a new show after a long hiatusdue to the global pandemic and you got a perfect recipe for disaster. Unfortunately, there were 8 confirmed deaths after an avalanche broke during the rapper’s concert. But the controversy became even greater when reports from social media about the artist’s reaction started becoming more public.

How did Travis Scott react to the tragedy?
To Travis Scott’s credit, the concert was so massive that he probably had no idea what happened until after several minutes when nothing more could be done to save those lives. But the issue here is more structural than reactionary from the rapper, who keeps preaching on a raging style of partying that tends to go out of control.
He obviously wasn’t expecting a quiet evening but the writing has been on the wall with Travis Scott’s music from the very beginning. It’s a matter of attitude what drives all his fans to lunacy when they attend one of his concerts. Perhaps Travis is not directly guilty for what happened last night at Astroworld but he does bear a high level of responsibility, especially knowing how riled uphis crowds can get.
