A university in Texas will offer a course on Taylor Swift songwriting

Popular American songstress Taylor Swift will have her songwriting added to a new literature course at a Texas university.

The Taylor Swift Songbook will fill the void left by Chaucer, Shakespeare, and other authors and artists that students will hopefully become familiar with by the end of their studies.

The course titled – The Taylor Swift Songbook – will take the vacant position, filling in the line-up at the University of Texas at Austin (UTA) from this autumn.

According to a course description on the UTA website, the course will employ “the songwriting of pop music icon Taylor Swift to introduce literary critical reading and research methods-basic abilities for study in English literature and other humanities disciplines.”
