Coolio, whose real name was Artis Leon Ivey Jr, has been declared dead at the age of 59, following what was likely a cardiac arrest when he was visiting a friend’s house.

The rapper achieved mainstream success following the release of the song ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’, which was a part of the soundtrack of Michelle Pfeiffer‘s movie ‘Dangerous Minds’.

How did Coolio die?

Speaking to TMZ, his manager Jarez said that Coolio was at a friend’s house and went to the bathroom.

After not coming out for a while, the friend called for him before eventually entering the bathroom and finding Coolio sprawled on the floor.

The friend proceeded to call the EMTs, who arrived at the scene and pronounced Coolio dead with the suspected cause of the death a cardiac arrest.

An official cause for the death is still yet to be confirmed, though Law enforcement sources have told TMZ that no drugs or drug paraphernalia were found at the scene of the death…
