A fire incident occurred at the Dangote Refinery in the Lekki Free Zone, Lagos, on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.
The management has confirmed that the fire has been swiftly contained and there are no reported injuries or harm to staff.
According to a statement by Anthony Chiejina, Group Head of Corporate Communications, the incident occurred at the effluent treatment plant (ETP) and has been brought under control. The refinery is still operational.
Earlier, a video shared on social media showed a thick dark smoke rising from one of the tanks in the facility, causing concern among Nigerians.
However, the company has assured that the situation is under control and there is no cause for alarm.
