Nigeria’s manufacturing sector sees silver lining in multinationals’ exit – a boon for homegrown industries

The Director General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Segun Ajayi-Kadir, has stated that the recent exit of some multinational companies from Nigeria presents an opportunity for homegrown industries to thrive. Ajayi-Kadir emphasized the potential for domestic manufacturers to flourish in the country, given proper government support and empowerment.

According to Ajayi-Kadir, the exit of multinationals creates a void in the market that local manufacturers can fill, fostering growth in the Nigerian manufacturing sector. This, in turn, will boost the economy and create employment opportunities for Nigerians.

The MAN DG stressed that the government should prioritize the development of the manufacturing sector by implementing policies that attract investment and encourage local production. By doing so, the government can create an enabling environment for homegrown industries to grow and compete with their global counterparts.

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria views the exit of multinational companies as an opportunity to nurture and promote the growth of domestic industries, ultimately contributing to the nation’s economic development.
