Former chief scientist to Barack Obama ‘dismayed’ by ‘political decisions’ on climate science

Former US Undersecretary for Science Professor Steven Koonin says as a scientist he is “dismayed” politicians make decisions which might be “informed” by the science – but take “many other factors into account”.

“I’m dismayed that many of the political decisions are just that, they are informed by the science but they take many other factors into account,” he told Sky News host Alan Jones.

“And so as a scientist one often has to hold one’s tongue as the political leaders make whatever decisions they say they’re going to make.”
