Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene says America doesn’t need gun reform it needs a ‘return to God’

Controversial Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has claimed the United States doesn’t need gun reform in the wake of the Robb Elementary School shooting in Texas.

Instead, she says, people need a ‘return to God’.

Her declaration came just hours after a teenage gunman opened fire at an elementary school, killing 18 children and a teacher, according to the latest figures from the New York Times.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene🇺🇸 on X (formerly Twitter): “Our nation needs to take a serious look at the state of mental health today.Sometimes meds can be the problem.America is failing our youngest generations from decades of rejecting good moral values and teachings. We don’t need more gun control. We need to return to God. / X”

The suspect is now dead, with Governor Greg Abbott confirming the shooter was an 18-year-old.

The shooting has become the 30th shooting in K-12 schools in the United States in this year, according to CNN.

It’s the deadliest US K-12 school shooting since the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy in 2012, where 26 people were killed, including 20 children.

Instead of condemning gun reforms, Taylor Greene managed to turn the devastating situation into a call for a return to religion.

In typical school shooting denier fashion, she tweeted: “Our nation needs to take a serious look at the state of mental health today.

“Sometimes meds can be the problem.

“America is failing our youngest generations from decades of rejecting good moral values and teachings.

“We don’t need more gun control.

“We need to return to God.”

Almost sounds like she’s implying that America needs ‘thoughts and prayers’ rather than new legislation.

Fellow GOP Senator Thom Tillis also maintained a similar stance and warned against curbing gun rights.

It seems ridiculous that these Senators care more about an unborn child than those children that are living and being shot and killed in their schools.

Senator Tillis told CNN: “It’s horrible. And you know what we need to avoid is the reflexive reaction we have to say this could all be solved by not having guns in anyone’s hands.

“We can always talk about reasonable measures, but we also have to talk about better situational awareness.

“I’m almost certain that in the coming days or weeks, we’re going to find out that there were signs that this person was at risk, and we need to have an equal or greater attention on prevention and that’s a key part of it.”

Wouldn’t have to worry about someone being at ‘risk’ with a gun if they couldn’t get a hold of a gun to begin with.
