The Lead British International School in Abuja has announced a temporary closure amid an investigation into the alleged bullying involving its students.

On Monday, videos surfaced on social media showing a student of the school, later identified as Maryam, being slapped by her colleague.

In the videos, Maryam is surrounded by uniformed colleague students while a female among them is dealing her smacks on the face.

The students are then heard making such comments as “Who broke my heart” and “I spoilt her relationship” within the school premises.

The development has attracted a chorus of condemnation on social media, with Nigerians demanding that measures be taken to punish the culprit.

The school management, in a statement on Tuesday, said it had begun an investigation into the matter.

In an update, the management revealed that the school will be closed for three days.

The school representative announced the closure in the presence of Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, the minister for women’s affairs.
