A woman who had £80million deposited into her bank account by mistake was left frustrated that she couldn’t access her funds.

Maybank, one of Malaysia’s biggest banks, cocked up when it sent Hafidzah Abdullah 404,040,404,04 Malaysian ringgit in credit on her checking account. In a panic, they blocked her account meaning that she couldn’t even access her own funds, never mind her accidental millions.

Hafidzah’s account was in lockdown for three days, and the matter is now reportedly resolved.

“You’d think I hit the lottery, right?” she wrote on LinkedIn. “Well, not really- It is glitches!!!”

And on the subject of being barred from her own account, Hafidzah added: “They say money can’t buy happiness, but Maybank knows how to buy frustration.”

Maybank claimed the issue is now resolve, but Hafidzah fumed online: “Three days of Maybank glitches during salary payout period is like a comedy of errors that no one finds funny.”

She said how visiting the bank has become her “new daily exercise routine”.

“To unlock it, I had to visit the nearest Maybank branch and the officer had to call customer service to unblock it – which took forever and this is not my mistake!” Hafidzah explained.

Ruth Balloon hit the headlines in 2019 when she checked her bank account to find the eye-watering amount of £27million after her shift a Dallas, Texas shoe shop called Roma Boots.
