A bumbling criminal has been dubbed ‘Britain’s dumbest’ after he tried to sell power tools to the people he’d stolen them from just hours earlier.
Callum Louis Ellerby, 25, embarrassed himself when he presented the tools to workmen at a house in York last November. The decision left him red-faced as the tools, worth £3,130, had been stolen from the same property overnight.
Thieves broke into the house made off with the tools and caused £1,500 damage to a patio door, York Crown Court heard.
Ellerby, who lives nearby, somehow acquired the tools and then brought them to a contractor on the site before he legged it.
