Owo attack: Federal government exempts herdsmen, blames ISWAP – Reports

According to a report by Knoxville News Sentinel the Nigerian government blamed the Owo Attack on Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, while avoiding references to politically powerful herdsmen.

“Nigerian officials blamed the St. Francis attack on the Islamic State West Africa Province, which has ties to the terrorist group Boko Haram, while avoiding references to networks of politically powerful Fulani herdsmen,” the report said.

Speaking on the gruesome murder of forty congregants in the attack which took place in the St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, a senior fellow at the Religious Freedom Institute in Washington DC, Stephen Rasche, explained that Nigerians no longer trust their own government or the leaders of the United States and the European Union.
