Edo State First Lady, Mrs Betsy Obaseki has called on Nigerian youths to assert themselves in nation-building, just as she urged them to come out and take back their country.
Mrs Obaseki, who made the call while receiving an honorary Doctorate Degree (Honoraris Causa) from Wellspring University, Benin City, reminded Nigerian youths that with their voice and number they can assert their authority which would make the difference.
According to her excellency, “Assert yourselves in nation building, you have a voice and you have the numbers. Come out and take back your country”.
Obaseki was awarded an honorary Doctorate Degree (Honoraris Causa) by Wellspring University, Benin City as a recognition for her immense contributions to education, business and public service in Nigeria.
The Edo State First Lady was presented with the award at the University’s 3rd Combined convocation ceremony which was held at the University Campus in Benin City.
Receiving the award, Obaseki expressed delight that the institution has a curriculum that seeks to impact its immediate and larger community and thanked the University,s authorities for the award.
Earlier, the Chancellor of the University, Pastor Itua Ighodalo admonished the students to believe in themselves. He said “there’s no doubt you’ve gotten quality education that could stand you on any platform anywhere in the world and by God’s grace a lot of you will perform not just in Nigeria, but anywhere the world finds you.
