I’m will step on toes, new FCT Minister’s appointee vows

The newly appointed Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Mandate Secretary of Transportation Secretariat, Abdullahi Adamu Candido, Wednesday, said he was not scared to step on toes in order to achieve the mandate of the administration.

Candido, an APC stalwart, stated this at the handover ceremony held in his office, while reiterating his commitment in ensuring good service delivery.

He added that, he has a brief time to stay in the office, but am not bothered about the time frame, am more concerned about the quality of service .

He said, “Certainly this is an election year and I will not be diplomatic in the discharge of this mandate, we have to be hard in order to achieve results.

“So when we step on toes and lose the votes of okada riders, then we will make up in other areas. By the time we commence a formal job, if we will actually get what we want in tidying the city , we must step on toes I am good at this as long as I get the job done.

“We march on toes but once we engage it won’t be too painful. We will be friendly but firm. If we ask an okada man to leave this place, there is already an alternative where he will stay. if we are afraid the job won’t be done.

“Fielding questions from newsmen on how stepping on toes can deplete his party’s votes, he said, “It will not affect the election especially APC, and it all boils down to engaging major stakeholders and citizens is imperative”, he said.

The immediate past AMAC Chairman hinted that he will base my take off from what the Minister said at the inauguration. I want to believe whatever he told us to do I want to believe what he told us is his priority areas we will get them done and be creative to achieve more.

We also need to give back to the people and I believe in hearing their views, it is not every policy of government that we go ahead to implement , we have to hear their views as well.

Candido said that FCTA remains the supervisory ministry overseeing AMAC and there is the need for synergy, in the last two days I am seeing things in a different angle.
