How old-new national anthem could have prevented banditry, insecurity in Nigeria – Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio suggests that retaining the old national anthem could have prevented issues of banditry and insecurity in Nigeria.

Akpabio believes the anthem would have taught citizens patriotism and taking their neighbors as brothers, reducing the likelihood of violence.

He argues that the re-introduced anthem is not an element of colonialism, as a Nigerian panel received global inputs in 1959.

The move to revert to the old national anthem, “Nigeria, we hail thee”, aims to promote unity and brotherhood among Nigerians, according to Akpabio.
