One dead in fatal accident on Third Mainland Bridge

A ghastly motor accident on Third Mainland Bridge on Saturday morning has led to the death of one person, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has said.

According to LASTMA on its social media handle, the fatal accident occurred around 6:30am on Third Mainland Bridge by UNILAG waterfront inward Iyana Oworonsoki.

The authority confirmed the death of one person, but did not give details of the identity of the deceased.

It said the accident involved a Mini Truck (MUS 489 XS)and a Toyota Camry car (KRD 470 JD).

“Personnel of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) are on ground managing the situation and controlling traffic under the rain.

“Say no to over-speeding on Third Mainland Bridge.

“Other emergency responders at the accident scene include men of Nigerian Police Force, SEHMU personnel and a LASTMA tow truck trying to evacuate both vehicles to enable free flow of traffic on the Bridge,” the authority said.

After some hours, the authority reported that the road is now free after the recovery, saying “Please drive safely on Third Mainland Bridge always.”
