FULL LIST: 98 lawyers shortlisted for SAN title

The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee, has shortlisted a total of 98 lawyers to be considered for the conferment of the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

Among the names are the All Progressive Congress, National Legal Adviser, Prof Abdulkarim Kana (Life Bencher), former Nigeria Bar Association, national officials, Monday Ubani, Kunle Edun and Dr Rapulu Nduka.

Also shortlisted is the Independent National Electoral Commission legal adviser, Wendy Kuku, a notable Abuja based human rights lawyer, Terkaa Aondo and NBA Bwari branch chairman, paul Daudu.

The names were contained in a document signed by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court and the Secretary, LPPC, Hajo Bello, a copy of which was obtained by our correspondent on Tuesday, in Abuja.

According to the document, the shortlisted names are for the knowledge of the general public to make comments on the integrity, competence, and reputation of the lawyers and not an indication of their success in the process.

The document read, “The general public is hereby invited to comment on the integrity, reputation, and competence of the listed Applicants.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the publication of the names of the shortlisted Applicants is not an indication of their success in the process”.

A total of 87 lawyers were shortlisted for the advocate category and 11 in the academic category.

The document stated that every complaint(s) made must be accompanied with a verifying affidavit deposed to by the author before a Superior Court of Record in Nigeria or before a Notary public which must be in twenty copies.
