The Nigerian Army has condemned the torture of retired Corporal Toriola Adewale by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The director of Army Public Relations, Onyema Nwachukwu, stated that the video of the torture was circulated by IPOB’s self-acclaimed prime minister, Simon Ekpa.
Adewale was forced to deliver messages to active military personnel urging them to abandon their duties. The Nigerian Army urges all Nigerians to disregard the malicious video and stand united against terrorism perpetrated against Nigerians, particularly the law-abiding people of the South East.
