Three suspected Yoruba nation agitators were on Wednesday paraded by the Osun State police command over alleged secession agenda.
The suspects, Fagbuyi Oluwafemi, 61, Joy Faseyeku, 63, Alabede Janet, 64, were arrested at Obada market, Ikire, Irewole local government area of Osun State advocating that the people join Yoruba nation.
In a statement issued by the command’s acting Public Relations Officer Emmanuel Giwa-Alade on Wednesday, he said the suspect comprising of a man and two women were arrested with an Oodua Nation flag, a tripod, a megaphone, two mobile phones, handbills and a cap with Yoruba nation inscription.
It adds, “one Fagbuyi Oluwafemi, male, 61years, a native of AKure, Ondo State was arrested in Obada Market, Ikire on August 27, addressing marketers to embrace and support the Yoruba Nation. He urged traders in the market to denounce their allegiance to Nigeria as a Nation.
“The suspect claimed the entity called Nigeria ended in 2014 after 100 years of amalgamation and displayed the Yoruba Nation’s flag in the process. After his arrest, the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department after preliminary investigation.
“Through diligent investigation, Joy Faseyiku ‘f’ 63years and Alabede Janet ‘f’ 64years were arrested in Osogbo and Ikire town respectively in connection with the crime. Investigation has been concluded and the suspects have been charged to Federal High Court accordingly”.
