Voting in Benin metropolis is proceeding smoothly due to tight security measures, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). Security agents were deployed early in most polling units across Benin and Edo, boosting voter participation in the governorship election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was commended for their preparedness, with materials and officials on ground by 8:00 a.m. Majority Leader of the Edo House of Assembly and PDP Campaign Director-General, Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, praised INEC for the early commencement of the exercise.
Commissioner of Police, Musa Mustapha, also noted the calm and orderly electoral process. PDP chieftain Martins Izevbizua and APC chieftain Osarobo Idahosa praised the peaceful process.
