Indigenous bullet trains: What’s happening on country’s first high-speed rail project

India is planning to begin trials of its domestically developed bullet trains by the middle of 2027. Civil construction on the 97-km Surat-Vapi high-speed rail stretch is scheduled to be completed this year.
