One hundred and thirty-one students of the Mdibbo Adama University (MAU) Yola have earned First Class bachelor’s degrees in various disciplines.

The 131, among a total of 12,876 graduands of the university, are to receive their certificates during the university’s convocation ceremony fixed for this Saturday, October 23.

The total 12,876 graduands who completed their academic programmes in the 2017/2018, 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 academic sessions, are lined up for the Saturday’s event termed combined 24th, 25th and 26th Convocation.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Abdullahi Tukur, who addressed newsmen Wednesday in preparation for the convocation ceremony, gave the breakdown of the graduands as 131 First Class, 2865 second class upper, 7462 second class lower, 2141 third class and 277 pass degrees under bachelor’s degree category.

“In the category of higher degrees, we shall award 183 postgraduate diplomas, 1373 Master’s, and 155 PhDs in various disciplines,” he added.

The VC, who expressed joy over conversion of the university from a science and technology-based specialised institution (when it was named Modibbo Adama University of Technology) to a conventional institution (and now simply called Modibbo Adama University), said however that the University is facing challenges.

He said the management is having sleepless nights over limited wall fencing.
