NLC orders closure of LP secretariat, calls for Abure’s dismissal

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) staged a protest at the Labour Party’s secretariat on Wednesday, opposing the party’s upcoming national convention scheduled for the end of the month. The NLC leadership also demanded the removal of the National Chairman, Julius Abure.

According to the NLC leadership, Abure is accused of orchestrating a “secret” convention without consulting major stakeholders. This move has created tension between Abure and both the NLC and the House of Representatives caucus.

Workers participating in the protest have accused Abure of attempting to undermine and dismantle the Labour Party. However, their efforts to enter the party’s secretariat were thwarted by the Nigeria Police Force.
