Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) will now be employed as lecturers in polytechnics under new service schemes approved by the Nigerian Polytechnics.
Prof. Idris Mohammed Bugaje, Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), announced this during a formal presentation on Wednesday. Approved by Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of Service, the new schemes, effective from June 7, 2024, abolish the Instructor cadre that previously segregated HND holders.
The unified recruitment and promotion approach applies across federal, state, and private polytechnics. Bugaje credited this milestone to collaborative efforts over the past decade.
