Boko Haram: Death toll rises to 18 in Borno female suicide bombers’ attack

“I have also received a report that there is a suspected suicide bomber in Pulka,” said SEMA boss Barkindo Saidu.

Barkindo Saidu, Director-General of Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), confirms a series of blasts in Gwoza, resulting in a rising death toll.

The first blast occurred at a wedding ceremony, while the second blast targeted the funeral service of the initial victims, with another female suicide bomber detonating a device amidst the mourners.

The attacks have resulted in 18 deaths, with 19 critically wounded individuals transported to Maiduguri for treatment, and 23 others awaiting military escort for medical attention.

The SEMA Director-General is coordinating rescue efforts, mobilizing emergency drugs, and arranging for a chopper to transport the wounded, with a report of a suspected suicide bomber in nearby Pulka village.
