Lagos State Police Command has taken disciplinary action against one of its officers who attempted to extort money from a drone operator in a viral video.
The officer was shown demanding a permit from the drone operator on the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, triggering a debate about whether the operator required such permission.
Police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed that the officer had been demoted from the rank of Inspector to Sergeant for his unprofessional conduct. Hundeyin also emphasized the need for drone operators to obtain permits, as required by Nigerian aviation laws.
