Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed a defection suit against 27 Rivers State House of Assembly members loyal to Minister Nyesom Wike. The suit sought to replace them due to their alleged defection from the People’s Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
Lifu ruled the suit was statute-barred and not filed within 14 days allowed by law. The case was deemed a gross abuse of the court process.
