Bayelsa State capital reports flash floods

On 21st may, 2022, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency NIMET, called the attention of state Governors, private agencies and every riverine Nigerians to consider the heavy rainfall predicted by the national emergency management agency, nema as the country enters the rainy season.

In Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State Capital, i’m south-south Nigeria, there are visible rainfall flash floods in some areas and there is need for everyone to take precaution.

 The 2022 rainfall as expected started from the coastal states of Bayelsa, Cross River and Akwa Ibom in late February and around July for the Northern States of Borno, Yobe, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kastina and Zamfara.

In NIMET ‘s seasonal climate predictions scp, the length of the growing season for farmers in 2022 will range between 96 to 310 days across the country. Farmers around Kwara, Oyo,Jigawa, Sokoto, and Kebbi are likely to experience shorter growing seasons
